Solid Plastering Services in Sheffield and South Yorkshire

P3 plasterer applying solid plaster to a masonry wall

Solid plastering is a traditional plastering method where plaster is applied directly to a solid background such as brick, blockwork or other suitable masonry. Unlike plasterboarding, which uses manufactured boards to create the surface, solid plastering builds up the plaster directly on the wall.

Depending on the surface and the requirements of the property, appropriate backing or base coats are applied before the finishing plaster. This creates a strong, durable surface and makes solid plastering particularly useful for renovation work, repairs and properties where existing plaster needs to be removed and replaced.

Strong, Durable Finish

Solid plastering creates a robust wall surface and, when correctly applied to a suitable background, provides a high-quality finish designed to stand the test of time.

Ideal for Older Properties

Solid plastering is particularly useful when renovating traditional properties where damaged or deteriorated existing plaster needs to be removed and replaced.

Versatile for Repairs & Renovations

From individual damaged areas to complete walls, solid plastering can be used across a wide range of repair, refurbishment and renovation projects.

Smooth Surface for Decorating

Once the appropriate backing coats and finishing plaster have been applied, solid plastering creates a smooth, consistent surface ready for decorating.

Solid plastering is suitable for a wide range of repair and renovation projects, particularly where plaster needs to be applied directly to brick, blockwork or another suitable masonry background.

It can be especially useful in older properties where existing plaster has deteriorated or needs to be removed, as well as during renovations where walls require rebuilding and levelling before a new finish is applied. We assess the existing background and recommend the appropriate plastering method for the property.

Solid plastering can also form part of repair work following appropriate damp treatment, where affected plaster has been removed and the underlying cause of the damp has been addressed.
